Book collecting campaign
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. Groucho Marx
We have launched an extensive campaign for the accumulation of literature from various disciplines and genres, in order to create and maintain a high-quality library and museum collection, and also with a view to helping other libraries.
Please contact us if you have any surplus books or literature that you no longer need or that you wish to make available to the public via our institution.Any help, no matter how modest, is valuable and appreciated.
We receive donations in support of our projects from all over the world.
In August 2016 we received 15,000 books from Germany, the library collection of the respected translator Peter Urban. We have also received important donations from London (UK), Tver (Russia), Cairo (Egypt), Izola (Slovenia) and Geneva (Switzerland).
Our ambition is to send every book to where it is most needed and most appreciated. So far, we have distributed books to more than 200 libraries throughout Serbia and Eastern Europe. Together with the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts and the Association of Serbian Writers, we have donated more than half a million books to more than 200 institutions in the region over the last few years. Institutions that have benefited from the club’s activities include the Hilandar Monastery, libraries in Kosovo and numerous school and village libraries. These libraries have often been unable to renew their collections for several decades.
